W.I.N. is now available!

Hi again folks!

I have finally finished the game ""W.I.N." and this one was hell to do as i coded something completely new to me (drawing with a marker part) and had to be creative so i was able to simulate all the accessories. This is the first game which uses 45 buttons to play it as the second game to use many buttons is Football (it uses 40 buttons).

So be sure to read the READ-ME.txt to know which buttons are assigned to do what or simply go crazy to find out yourself (mouhhahahahaahah! - evil laugh!!). check out these screenshots:

When you start a game

 Pick a random Word card

 Pick a random Number card

The "Slates" screen with a marker

On this screen you can write down on the proper slate the information required for the game but you need to draw slowly with the mouse because it can make small dots instead of a line.

The "W.I.N." screen

For this screen, you just need to press on a specific button so it will put an "X" on the card you won during the game.

So before starting a game, i really do recommend to read the "READ-ME" text and the official instruction manual (which you can also find on Archive.org).

And here's the zip for the game "HERE". Have fun! :)

Football has been updated

Hi folks,

Stuart Feldhamer has found another game that i have made a small mistake and indeed, i have coded both buttons for ball speed with Pass & Run cards (buttons 1 & 2) so each time anyone tried to pick a Pass or Run card, it was also variating by a fraction the ball speed so the ball speed wasn't usuable.

Stuart told me about that he couldn't variate the ball speed, i've checked the coding and again, he was right so now i have coded the ball speed with buttons "7" and "8" and put "60" as default speed since it was at "200" as the ball was going to fast (supposed to be at the lowest level but if i put it at the lowest ("10"), then the ball moves at turtles pace).

So if anyone needs the updated version, just click "HERE".

And Stu (aka Stuart) made another video with his lovely wife which they review two games: Table Tennis and Tennis. You can watch it right here (or on his Youtube channel):

Also note that i'm pretty sure that Stuart will make more videos about the Odyssey/OdySim on his Youtube channel so be sure to subscribe!

Until next, take care folks! =)

Invaders are here!

Hi folks!

Today is the release of the third game of the "Arcade Game Pak#1: Space Invaders!

Yep, another arcade port for the OdySim and maybe for the Magnavox Odyssey (BTW. if anyone is interested to make any of my homebrew games or ports for the Magnavox Odyssey, i would be very honored and the only thing (well two) is that i only ask for a copy made of the game and that any credit(s)/copyright(s) will be preserved. I may not be rich but i don't much care about money so a copy is all i would ask in return. :)

As usual, here's some screenshots:

This is Space Invaders for the Cartridge #9 as it should be played with two players. One player is the "target" (spot) and places it on an alien and the other player (with the rifle) tries to shoot it. And if failed for (xx seconds) or was successful, the the "target" player moves to another alien of his choice.

Any alien shot on the first row (blue) is worth 5 points, on the second row (green): 10 points, on the third row (yellow): 15 points, on the forth row (orange): 20 points and on the fifth row (red) is worth 25 points. So after a time period of your choosing (1 to xx minutes), the shooter writes down his score and then both players switch turns. And once the time has ended for the next shooter, he then now compares his score to the previous shooter and the shooter with the best score wins.

Pretty simple huh ? And some of you have notice another picture in the manual ? Yup, as i was going to released this game, i thought another one which fits perfectly with Space Invaders and what is happening actually worldwide. As i'm no doctor or scientific, i fell hopeless in front of the pandemic so to get out some frustration and tension regarding the Covid-19 virus, i came up with this game called: Corona Invaders 2020.

And the game plays exactly like Space Invader but with the exception that there is no points to gain, only remember how many you shot in a time period and then it is the other player to try out.

I also did Space Invaders for playing with Cartridge #10 and you can play either 1 or 2 players. If you are playing alone, just position both paddles (spots) and then press reset on player two to activate the ball, after you try to shoot one of the alien like in this picture:

And during the game, you switch row, shoot, etc..you know the drill. Scoring is the same as for Space Invaders - Cartridge #9 and again, Corona Invaders 2020 is included in this version.

No points (but can if you want) but you have to be as much centered on a virus to eliminate it.

So there you have it folks, Invaders form space and inner-space. You can get Space Invaders for cartridge #09 HERE and Space Invaders for Cartridge #10 HERE. Have fun to destroy those pesky invaders! ;)

Updated 2 games that had problems...

Hi again folks,

Stuart Feldhamer reported me that Haunted House had 2 problems about two weeks ago and fixed those little "bugs", after which he reported then there were another problem with the coincidence between both players (Ghost & Detective) and he was right on all counts as either i haven't read "in deep" the manual or i made a "boubou" (i would say both...heh)...that's what happens when you're getting older...LOL!!!

So after i've fixed the last problem for Haunted House, i have check Cat and Mouse since both these games uses cartridge #4 and also this one had a small glitch and corrected it without delay.

If you have Cat and Mouse 0.10.1 and/or Haunted House 0.10.1/0.10.1A, then you'll need to download the latest (fixed) version on my archive.org repository.

And BTW, Stuart and his wife had fun with Cat and Mouse, and they made a video, check it out:

Also, Chris Read pointed to me about cartridge #12 on a future release port that how exactly this cartridge works ? I have simulated it for Interplanetary Voyage but then he asks me if it actually simulates cart #12 and i've replied that i don't know exactly/not 100% sure how it works because that's the only cartridge i don't have. I have cart #01 to 10 + 13 and i don't need cart #11 as it's almost the same as cart #8 with the exception of a thinner wall (just put a jumper between pin#38 & 40 on cart #8 to get a cartridge #11).

So i've told Chris that i'll make my own cart #12 and to see how exactly it works in practice as i only deducted how it works in theory. And doing a cartridge #12 is more easier than i thought as i've checked the pinout of each cartridge (01 to 12) and the closet one is cartridge #04 by adding two jumpers: one jumper between pin#28 & 28 and another jumper between pin#3 & 5.

Some of you would states that "...but cart#12 has pin#3, 5 and 7 connected together, why you are not using pin#7 ?". And that, is a good question because pin#7 is not connected to anything...period! Even it in the Odyssey FAQ and the BLAK12 schematics states that pin#7 is connected to #3 & 5......so my question to any engineers who worked on the Odyssey back then...WHY pin#7 ????? And that may be a mystery never to be unsolved...(music of X-Files)...lol!

Ok now about the official games that i still need to simulate (Baseball, Invasion, Wipeout, W.I.N, Brain Wave - scratch Interplanetary Voyage as i've released it yesturday), i am coding them as we speak so they will be eventually be released very soon as the damn pandemic is still raging on.

Also, there are some homebrews "in the brews"...LOL!!! I can't talk about them right now and that's leaves my old own-brews, which i think i may include some of them as extra games for released sims and the rest as a "Old Man Game Pak", lol! Anyhow, as i've still need to finish the two games for my "Arcade Game Pak #1" (Space Invaders and Donkey Kong), i have more than (ahem) thirty games  IN DEV as i'm writing this, no joke or prank!

I already began working on which games will be included in Arcade Game Pak #2 and Pak #3, also a Casino Game Pak, a lot of Sports games that can be easily played on a real Odyssey, racing games (and those would be welcome as there is only Wipeout) and even new accessories.

Am i done with the Odysim ?? My answer: AH!! Think i'll die before i'm finish with it, lol!
Hope you'll bare with me for the time to come as i've just started this "Odyssey" (now that's a hell of a pun intended!! lol!).

So until next time, take good care of yourselves! =)

2 Games released: Pac-Man: Eat & Run and Interplanetary Voyage!!

Hi folks,

I've been coding all day long and i'm beginning to see "spots" (pun semi-intended) as i'm almost sleeping on the keyboard, so after finishing this post...i'll snore like a bear! LOL!!!

So i have not 1 but 2 games for you folks today. Here's the first one:

Pac-Man: Eat & Run!

Yep, this is the second game of my "Arcade Pak #1" which is heavily based on the Coleco tabletop "Eat & Run" but with another twist. Instead of gobbling power pellets, you (Pac-Man) has to touch/pass-thru all eight bonus items to win the game. But you have a ghost (other player) that is chasing you so watch out! It's a simple "Maze & Chase" game-type.

So here's more screenshots:

And here's today's second released: Interplanetary Voyage!

The last official game to be released on the Magnavox Odyssey and this one came with the cartridge #12, is now finally simulated. This one wasn't a piece of cake to do i assure you! Just 112 game cards for starters and so llloooonnngggg instructions to follow. So i strongly suggest to find a copy of the manual (5 pages) as it has two games: Interlanetary Voyage and University of the Solar System.

Here's more screenshots:

Game board with space ship tokens and power chips.

Answer board.

I had to rethink how to display the game board with the answer section has this one was too small to read, so i did something quite simple, an answer board overlay by pressing "F12".

Resizing cards and make them readable wasn't easy, especially that the knowledge card from #57 to 72 were all badly scanned so i had to redo them from scratch (you'll see the difference between those and the original one from #01 to 56)., but at least now the game is finally done and to all to enjoy.

So click HERE to get Pac-Man: Eat & Run and click HERE to get Interplanetary Voyage.

Have fun folks and take care! :)

Have a "Froggy" Easter!

Hi folks!

I finally decided to released the port of "Frogger" for the OdySim...yes...you are reading right...Frogger! I did talked about it and i even have a video on Youtube:

Well now after almost two years, it's finally released! =)

But that's not all as i have also talked about three other arcade game ports for the OdySim, which are: Donkey Kong, Pac-Man: Eat & Run and Space Invaders. All these four titles (including Frogger) are part of the "Arcade Game Pak #1" and it's not a typo, i'm really writing "Pak" and not Pack".

The other three ports will be released during Spring 2020...no joke!

Ok, as usual, here's some few screenshots of the game:

 When a game starts...

Both players are almost at the middle

 Player 2 has won!

The manual of the game (incorporated in the game)

So ready to try it out ?! You can grab the game right HERE!

So have a Happy Easter, have fun and take care of yourselves! :=)
